F.A.Q.

Q Where does the hair come from?

A-The hair usually comes from Countries such as Asia, India, and Russia where people do not normally cut and blow dry their hair as often as we do. As a result, their hair grows significantly longer. Long lengths (minimum 12-14 inches) are needed in order to make wigs, hairpieces, etc.

Q Is the hair color processed?

A-The likelihood of a specific color match is unrealistic. Therefore, the hair is colored to be a perfect match for the client. The hair also must go through a sterilization process.

Q What are the pros and cons of human hair and synthetic hair?

A- Human hair is more realistic in every way. It can be permed, colored, curled, straightened, blown out and maintained by anyone. For these reasons, “the real thing” costs more. Conversely, synthetic hair is “locked in” and cannot be changed. If you are frustrated when doing your own hair then this may be the appropriate option for you. You’ll receive the exact color and style you want with a synthetic hair choice. Contrary to popular belief, the style cannot be changed and it only last a few months. ( NOTE: MY EXPERTISE IS DEALING WITH HUMAN HAIR RE-CREATIONS ONLY WHEREBY I COPY YOUR PHOTO.)

Q Why does human hair cost more?

A- Human hair costs more because it is completely natural and rare, unlike synthetic fibers that can be produced at anytime. European hair such as Italian or Australian hair is most expensive.

Q Why does the smallest hairpiece with the least amount of hair cost more than a full wig, which has much more hair?

A-It is not about quantity. When an unusually small size or fit has to be produced, it is custom made. When I design a mold specifically for you it is considered “custom” and therefore it is more expensive. It is designed to fit your head to a tee.

Q Can my own hairdresser cut or color my wig?

A-Yes and no. It certainly can be maintained by your own hairdresser. However, it is recommended that the cutting, coloring and fitting be left to a professional who specializes in these hair enhancement techniques.

Q Will my insurance pay some of the cost?

A- Insurance may or may not approve the cost. The reimbursement percentage amount is dependant upon your Insurance company. A doctor’s note is needed with a particular code and a business tax I.D.# is necessary to make a legitimate claim. It is the client’s responsibility to submit all valid claims to their insurance company.

Q How long will my hair replacement last?

A-Your hair replacement will last approximately 1 to 1½ years depending upon your hair care and maintenance. Sleeping with it, using heavy products, spray, gel, mousse etc. may lessen the length of time the hair replacement will last.

Q How do they stay on?

A-There are many different methods of attachments; dependant on the client’s lifestyle and personal preference. Invisible sticky tape can be used, or gentle full-proof bonding or simple on/off comb clips.

Q Can I sleep with it?

A-You can sleep with it only if a full-proof bonding method of attachment was used. Consult with your hair care professional.

Q What can I expect from a consultation?

A-Your specific questions pertaining to hair loss will be answered and I will discuss different types of hair enhancements that may appeal to you. You will be able to touch, feel and look at actual hair samples during the consultation. Measurements will be taken and a hair sample to match color. (If needed a mold of your head will be taken). If you are undergoing chemotherapy treatment you will receive a complimentary comfy sleep cap.

Q How quickly can I have something after ordering?

A- You can receive a hair enhancement in approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Extensions can be received earlier, in as little as a few days, and a human wig typically arrives in about one week. On occasion hair extensions and wigs can be overnighted.
